Site Search users either know what they are looking for, or they are not having fun finding it with the site category navigation. In either case, it has long been proven that users of eCommerce Site Search have much higher conversion rates than people who primarily click and browse. While the numbers vary from study-to-study & site-to-site, there is usually a 3-10x conversion rate for Site Search users … WHEN the Site Search is good. If you have a bad Site Search experience, B2B buyer adoption is a challenge & the call center gets an earful.

A great Site Search aligns the buyers experience so there is consistency in between the Search and Browse UX. The right Product Attributes are displayed at the right time to guide the buyer to purchase. Part numbers & dimensions choke many Site Search systems built for B2C, how does yours do? Performance is a key consideration, as is cost. SaaS solutions tend to be slower and have increasing costs with volume, while tools installed onto the servers you control keep performance in your power & often have flat, or at least flatter, pricing models.
